This project required the installation of a 180 foot span temporary bridge, prior to the demolition of the existing bridge deck, piers and abutment. Installation of temporary cofferdams and new abutments and pier was followed by the erection of curved plate girders and a composite concrete deck along with associated approach work.

This project consisted of the deck replacement of a 190 foot bridge located on Route 74 in Shoreham. It also utilized a fast track schedule, which made it possible for this bridge to be reopened 40 days after closure. Stay in place forms were used in place of a traditional wood formed deck.

In 2008 a new four story building structure was designed to be constructed within the covered courtyard space of the existing Given Building on the University of Vermont campus. Built with energy conservation, efficiency and waste reduction in mind, all of the material used to construct the building including poured concrete, cranes and other construction equipment were brought in through a narrow eight-foot-by-eight-foot opening created in the exterior wall of the Given Building that allowed access through a seven-foot-wide corridor into the Courtyard. This project was awarded LEED Gold Certification.

After removing approximately 11,000 square feet of existing slab in the courtyard, 900 cubic yards of fill was excavated and removed as well. With the use of electric mini-excavators the material was loaded into hoppers which held ½ of a cubic yard, which were then brought through the hallway outside with an electric pallet jack. There a forklift was used to unload the material into dump trucks where the material was then trucked off site. Using a concrete trailer pump, 500 cubic yards of concrete was poured for the 2 foot thick mat foundation. Upon the installation of the structural steel, 480 cubic yards of light weight deck slabs were poured.

The Collins Perley ice rink began with the demolition of approximately 17,000 square feet of existing slab and insulation, removed with an excavator, ‘slab crab’ attachment and forklift. In preparation for the new slab, steel reinforcement and refrigeration piping was installed and a 5 inch concrete slab was placed.
